Funchal taxi on Madeira Island on a rainy night with Christmas lights — My taxi in Funchal — where it all begins.

I was born and raised on Madeira Island. I've worked as a taxi driver for several years and in that time I've taken hundreds of visitors through the most beautiful corners of the island — from sunrise on Pico do Areeiro to the natural pools of Porto Moniz.

I believe getting to know Madeira is more than taking photos at the viewpoints. It's stopping at the right café, listening to the stories of the land, feeling the wind at Cabo Girão and choosing the trail that suits you best — not a group of 40 people.

That's why I only offer private tours: just you (and whoever's with you), me, and my car. No tight schedules, no rush.

Amazing tour with Ricardo

Ricardo was an excellent tour guide. We had planned to visit all the stops separately, but condensing the trip with Ricardo meant we got to see every place we wanted in a single day, with no waiting for public transport and for far less money. Ricardo gave us as much time as we wanted at each stop and tailored the trip to the sights we wanted to see. We can't recommend him or this tour company enough — the amount of information and history we learned about the island is something you simply couldn't get doing this on your own. Ricardo's knowledge and experience are fantastic.

Great Madeira tour

Wonderful tour. Ricardo was an excellent driver — very knowledgeable, friendly, and knew exactly where to take us. We had great fun coming down the hills in a wicker basket, and there was a lovely stop at a small fishing village along the route. Would recommend any time.

Madeira tours

We did two guided tours around Madeira, covering both the east and west sides with Luis and Ricardo, and they were a real highlight of our trip. Both guides were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing great insights about the island, and were always friendly, happy and full of energy. When in Madeira...

Amazing tour with Ricardo! Half a day visiting the sights of this beautiful island — we highly recommend it. Ricardo spoke perfect English and shared history and facts about the island, and he also had great recommendations on where to taste local food outside Funchal. If you have time in the fishing village, ask Diogo or Ricardo where to eat — try the delicious local seafood.
